Theme: Finding sustainable and equitable directions in the tsunami of business and technical imperatives, ocean of digital possibilities and lacking beacons for special innovations.

The PITA STRATEGY FORUM 2023 is the continuation of this event held every year at the mid-term in the fiscal year, to allow members get together for vital business and technical exchange and follow up in the development for solutions and goals. Particular focus will be given to strategies.

PITA Strategy Forum 2023 | Suva | Oct 17

As in previous years, with the collaboration of ITU Regional Office, PITA and ITU will bring to the forum an additional program co-organised with the Strategy Forum, for synergies, and insights sharing for potential holistic opportunities on closely related topics. The additional program with ITU will highlight and discuss developments and opportunities on Emergency Telecommunications Readiness and ICT Infrastructure Resilience, including two ending sessions on Girls for ICT, and PITA Beyond Program.

PITA-ITU Emergency Telecommunication Readiness and ICT Infrastructure Resilience.

Background:

Asia-Pacific region, as a very diverse region, has seen enormous growth over the years in the Digital world. However, the tapped potential benefits to economy due to digitization, remains at very low level especially in economies of Pacific Islands states. Pacific countries also have a generally high Vulnerability and exposure to Natural Hazards. With these considerations, the challenges of the increasing digital divide and reducing the impact of hazards may be addressed if due considerations are given to ICT solutions that are resilient to impact of disruptions and at the same time provide affordable and universal meaningful access.

To Enhance the resilience of Digital network infrastructure for affordable ICT services at national level, ITU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific has been working to develop a assessment checklist in evaluating the relevant Gaps and undertake informed investment decisions accordingly. 

Objective:

The event co-organized during PITA strategy forum and would focus on:

·       Highlighting the importance of Emergency telecom equipment testing at

·       Validating the assessment checklist with Pacific stakeholders

Policy Makers, Regulators, Service Providers, and Industry stakeholders from PITA & ITU member countries in Pacific
